• To login as the site main operator (full access to all programming features):
• On the map you will see square icons and round “bulls-eye” icons
• Square icons inside a unit/suite are a coloured indicator for a pull cord alarm within that suite.
.1 Green icon means no alarm / status normal
.2 Red icon means alarm
• Bulls-eye icons are wireless beacons spread throughout the building to aid in determining position of a pendant
.1 Green icon means no alarm / status normal
.2 Red icon means alarm.
• When a user presses their pendant button, the closest beacon will change to RED to indicate the resident/pendant is nearby that beacon (or was last seen near that beacon)
2.2 Procedure if a Pull Cord/Pendant is activated
• When pull cord alarm or position pendant alarm is triggered the Activate Alarm overlay will show the alarm info. If a pull cord is pulled, it will show which suite this has been pulled. If a pendant is activated, this will show the name of the resident and their approximate location on the map. At the same time, the map will auto switch the alarm location map and indicate the activated devices.
• The EMS server will also send a phone call to a group of telephones (desktop phones and Wi-Fi phones), the caller ID shows the user name and location.
.1 For pull cords: Caller ID show the room number
.2 For pendant: Caller ID will show the resident name and last location
• To pick up the call, simply click answer, you will hear the MiAlert announcement for the alarm info, dial “**” to acknowledge the alarm
.1 Acknowledgement places a record in the system that the call was received by a staff member (but not cancelled). This allows better record-keeping for response-time to alarm calls.
.2 After the call is acknowledged, you can hang up the phone.
.3 If the call is not attended to in the room / cancelled at source within two minutes, the system will call again as a reminder to attend to the alarm. This timeout of two minutes can be changed as per operation requirements.
2.3 Calling Back to a Room
• If, after an alarm, you would like to call back to a room to have a verbal conversation with the resident prior to attending the room, you can call the room in auto-answer mode.
• To call the room in auto-answer mode, dial *4XXX, where ‘XXX’ is the 3-digit room number, i.e. dial *4231 to call to room 231 and have the phone in the room auto-answer in speakerphone mode.
• Once the call is acknowledged, a staff member should go to the aid of the person. Once attending the person in need of assistance, the following methods can be used to cancel the call:
.1 Press the cancel button on the pull cord panel.
.2 From map monitor alarm overlay, select activate alarm and click cancel all selected alarm.
.3 From Active Alarm page, select activate alarm and click cancel all selected alarm.
3. Pull Cord Station Operation
3.1 Triggering an Alarm
• Inside a suite, the resident shall pull the pull cord (RED below).
• The LED light with illuminate RED and continue staying lit until the alarm is cancelled.
3.2 Cancelling an Alarm
• All pull cord alarms MUST be cancelled at the source.
• Press the cancel button (GREY below). Alarm is now cancelled.
3.3 Check-in
• Residents are to check-in everyday to provide a status update on their well-being.
• Press the check-in button (GREEN below). This will log into the system that the resident has checked in.
• Check-in must happen prior to 9am. A report can be automated to be sent at 9:01am to report residents who have not checked in yet.
4.3 Adding a pendant
• Use the concierge log-in account to add pendants
• Click on Activate button (grey button on pendant) to trigger alarm
• Click “Alarms” and the pendant alarm will appear with no information displayed in the Call Point Description
• Cancel the pendant alarm
• Click “Call Points”, select the edit button of the pendant with no description that had recently alarmed
• In the “Edit Record”, make sure the following information is selected of filled in:
• Click “Save”. All subsequent pendant alarms by the pendant will display the resident’s suite number followed by name in the Description / Call Point Description.
• In this example, the Pull Cord in Room 303 has a low battery as of the date/time in the Time Stamp column.
• Replacement batteries can be sourced from any electronics or home goods store such as London Drugs, Walmart, Home Depot or online/Amazon. Pacificom also stocks and can provide batteries as required.
• Batteries required for pull cords: “Lithium CR2”
• Batteries in pull cords have approximately 18 month lifespan
• Batteries required for pendants: “CR2032”
• Batteries in pendants have approximately 24-30 month lifespan
